Make Your Move is an effort from Missoula’s Intervention in Action Project, a group of community organizations dedicated to ending sexual violence. Its campaign’s goals are to: 1) Engage men and women as allies to prevent sexual violence by increasing awareness and education about the dynamics of sexual violence and 2) Encourage bystanders to foster healthy non-violent relationships and interrupt attitudes, language and actions that support sexual violence.
May I also just say that having these fine folks pose like superheroes is ducking fantastic?
I personally witnessed something like this last week. Some lady was alone-ish at the bar, super drunk, and some dude was all up ons. This stranger lady just plowed right in and took her out of the situation. It was pretty great!
Today on my walk to work, some dudes honked from their car. Whatever, it was innocuous in and of itself and I admit, I even grinned and felt good…for five seconds. And then they started following me, cruising really slow, shouting gross shit and even though it was daylight, it was a busy street, I was scared shitless.
Until some chick at the crosswalk yelled “GO SUCK YOUR OWN DICK, YOU SICK FUCKS” while her bf threw up the bird XD They sped off.
Folks, be awesome. Even in public, I freeze at first when such things are directed at me, because of Reasons.
